The name IIAM JNR is a true statement and representation of himself through his artistry. The “IIAM” emphasises his determination not to be defined by others or told how to make his music. Raised in a musical family, he was exposed to music from a young age. From dancing and beatboxing to poetry and rap, he found Hip Hop as a way to express himself, drawing inspiration from artists such as Kendrick Lamar, 2Pac and J. Cole.
His journey has seen him open for Sjava and perform at the 2025 Show Ground Festival, while also featuring on Metro FM’s The Encore with Mpumi Mlambo. In 2023, he toured with Kreative Kornerr for their Around the Kornerr tour and collaborated with Red Bull student marketing for its 2025 XeroXcuses campaign. He has also worked with artists including T Sign RSA, Jayden 372 and Radiant, alongside producers 03Huncho and J Fuego.
Looking ahead, IIAM JNR aims to be known for his artistic freedom and versatility, delivering dynamic, high-energy performances with a commanding stage presence while blending commercially accessible Hip Hop with raw, cut-throat lyricism. His artistry reflects his style, authenticity, where he comes from, what he is going through and where he is heading.
